Scenic lighting is used in many areas of architecture. Directional spotlights can not only highlight products to promote sales, they are also used wherever rooms need to be visually separated from one another by zoned lighting.
The gimbal was named after the Italian doctor and mathematician Geronimo Cardano (1501-1576). Originally developed as a technical device to hang instruments, e.g. a ship's compass, freely rotatable and independent of position and movement. This is technically realized by a metal ring in which two further metal rings, the axes of which are offset by 90° to each other, are mounted so that they can rotate within each other. The instrument is then attached to the innermost ring.
